• Description. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mr. Beaver encounters the Pevensies in the snow-covered Narnian woods, when they have left the ransacked cave of Tumnus the faun, after they discover that Tumnus has been arrested by the White Witch's police. Mr. Beaver introduces himself and takes him back to his house where he and Mrs. Beaver shelter them at their home.

• The walk to Mr. Tumnus' house was short. The forest was magical looking every branch looked coated with crystal and the snow was so white, nothing like the sludgy snow that the children had usually got in London. Lucy was telling Lila about everything that had happened while she was in the other world, how the self proclaimed 'Queen of Narnia' had cast the land in a never ending winter.

• To us, Father Christmas seems a little out of place in this book, even in the fantasy world of Narnia. Perhaps it's because he really does seem to come out of a fairy tale, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is more of an allegory.
